Dojo

The Sei Ryu Kan Dojo of Shorinjiryu Karatedo Australia was established by Jim and Lesley Griffin about 20years ago and is currently located at Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia, 4507. On Tuesday nights at the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre, Sunderland Drive, Banksia Beach and on Wednesday nights at Gym Junkies, Benabrow Ave, Bellara. Training times are available on www.shorinjiryu.com.au

The Dojo was named in conjunction with Hanshi Masayuki Hisataka, the present world Chief Instructor of Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo, who produced the calligraphy for the Japanese characters. The three kanji characters, Sei, Ryu and Kan represent the following -

Sei - Life, meaning that Karatedo is not a part time Art but is part of your life all day every day.

Ryu - Dragon, for the Griffin family crest.

Kan - Training hall or Dojo.
